Period 1 Curriculum
The Aim
The Period 1 curriculum at KS3 and KS4 covers citizenship, careers, age appropriate relationships as well as mental wellbeing. In addition to this it also includes student leadership, with students leading activities and supporting peers.
Period 1 aims to develop a range of skills including decision making, empathy and respect for others which are all encompassed within the Claydon '4Cs'. We hope that students leave Claydon High School as resilient individuals able to face life's challenges head on.
The purpose of Period 1 is to embed consistent routines with regards to time keeping, which is an integral part of future career development. Within the curriculum students will engage with wider concepts such as 'Stephen Lawrence Day', gender and challenging stereotypes. Additionally students work through the years with specific foci related to that age demographic, ranging from transition, selection of options subjects, work experience and preparation for formal examinations.
