OFSTED Reports

“Students enjoy attending this very happy school”

Following our full inspection on the 2nd and 3rd December 2025, Ofsted confirmed that Claydon High School is meeting the expected standard across all areas, with the school’s provision for personal development and wellbeing judged to be at a strong standard. Inspectors also confirmed that safeguarding standards were met, highlighting a positive culture in which students feel safe, valued and supported.

The strengths of the school include:

  • High levels of participation in enrichment activities, with disadvantaged students fully included in a wide range of clubs, visits, trips and community-focused opportunities.
  • Positive behaviour and attendance, with students enjoying coming to school and classrooms described as calm and purposeful.
  • Strong student voice, with students actively involved in shaping school life, including contributing to school policies.
  • Opportunities for students to learn about democracy through representative roles and mock elections.
  • Positive relationships across the school, with students typically treating others with kindness and respect.
  • Inspectors noted high levels of staff wellbeing and retention, alongside positive feedback from parents and carers.
  • LIFE curriculum, which plays a central role in helping students understand the world around them and develop strong character.
  • Careers education and guidance, noting that pupils benefit from first-hand experiences of the world of work and receive clear, impartial advice to help them make informed and ambitious decisions about their next steps.

What is it like to be a pupil at this school?

  • Students enjoy attending this very happy school.
  • Students know that if they have any worries or problems, caring staff will provide them with the support they need to overcome them.
  • Students know how to be 'upstanders' rather than 'bystanders' if their peers have any issues. This ensures that pupils feel safe, valued and welcome in the school community.
  • Students enjoy learning the broad, ambitious and usually well-taught curriculum.
  • Students relish a plethora of opportunities to develop their talents, broaden their interests and contribute to the school.
  • Students learn to be active citizens.
  • Students usually meet the school's high expectations of behaviour. Particularly when lessons are precisely adapted and engaging, students work with real enthusiasm.
  • Because the school is a positive, supportive environment for everyone, pupils attend very well.
