Sports Awards Evening
A packed out main hall played witness to the sports awards evening, back after a three year absence with students picking up awards for a variety of achievements in the past academic year.
The two guest speakers were incredibly inspiring considering they were at two different spectrums of their careers. Matt Holland, former professional football and now working in television, created a video message as he could not be with us in person on the evening whilst our second guest was able to attend and hand out the awards.
Euan Fraser is a Scottish international volleyball player who is the men’s volleyball team captain at the University of Essex. Being only 21 years old he spoke of how he got into volleyball and the dedication, drive and desire needed to train and perform at elite level. Both speeches were full of inspiration for our students.
Then it was onto the awards and huge congratulations to all students who received an award for their efforts and achievements. The evening was completed by the announcement of this year’s Sports Personality of the Year, which was won by a massive 48 votes by Year 8 student Alfie Worby.
A fantastic awards evening to round off an amazing year of PE and Sport at Claydon.
