Headteacher's Weekly Update

This week has been another sad one for us at Claydon High School as we closed to allow members of the school community to attend a thanksgiving service for Mr Jack. Thank you to all of our students for their considerate conduct in school and to all parents and carers for their support in ensuring this could happen. 

The service of thanksgiving was extremely moving and we all had the chance to reflect upon our loss but also to learn from Mr Jack’s life and the example he demonstrated through it. He set goals and worked hard to achieve them, focusing upon one step at a time, not being angry or demoralised by setbacks but learning from them and becoming stronger. These are the lessons we hope our young people will learn alongside their academic studies. Over the coming weeks we will discuss creating a lasting memorial in school as well as implementing these lessons into our everyday lives and demonstrating a living legacy to a great man and outstanding teacher.

The life of the school continues with the exam season now upon us. Year 10 are sitting exams in the hall this week and next week the main exam season for Year 11s taking their GCSEs begins; we wish all of them the very best of luck in these. Exams will take place for all students across the school and thank you to everyone who attended the workshop on revision skills and wellbeing last week; if anyone would like copies of the slides or material or any advice on this area, please contact the school.

Elsewhere, sports competitions enter the summer season for athletics, we are busy rehearsing for our school production of “Schools Will Rock You” and many exciting trips are planned including to the World War One Battlefields.
