Headteacher's Update
Our Claydon Countdown Challenge has begun this December. This is our school version of an advent calendar which is encouraging everyone to undertake daily acts of kindness. We know that many of our school community do this already so we are also asking those on the receiving end to share these via email (compassion@claydonhigh.com) and what is evident is that the actions are making individuals smile and everyone feel good! Watch out on parent mail or social media for what the rest of the month might hold and please join in too and email us with highlights!
Another highlight of the week for the whole community was welcoming back the Class of 2019, who took their exams last summer, and awarding their GCSE certificates and subject award prizes. Additional certificates are awarded from the Head of Year, for success in overcoming barriers to learning and to our Head Girl and Head Boy. I was delighted, as always, to present a special Headteacher’s Award to a deserving recipient and inaugural awards were given for reading from our retired librarian and staff voted for a student who represented the “Heart of Claydon” and this was given in the name of Matt Jack.
Look out for the newsletter before the end of term which will contain more photos of the Awards Evening and also of our Hampers which are due to be completed for Friday 13th December. I am delighted to report many students thinking of how to show compassion in an eco friendly manner but the donations coming in to support vulnerable people in our local community is what is most impressive; we really do have the best students in the county and excellent support from parents and carers too.
