Headteacher's Update
We welcomed students back to school this week and it was wonderful to have the site full of smartly dressed young people who were all excited about the start of the new year. Year 11 students begin their last 30 weeks of study before their exams, Year 10 embark upon their GCSE courses, Year 9 have their first chance to apply to be Prefects, Year 8 will showcase the school as Guides at our Open Evening and Year 7 were all smiling all day – what a busy year we have ahead.
There is always a lot of information at the start of the school year, for staff, students and parent/carers but lots of channels to glean this; the student planner, the website and asking questions. Please do contact the school, usually your child’s tutor or Head of Year in the first instance, if you have questions or contact reception via phone or email and the right person will get back to you as quickly as they can. An updated parent pack will be coming home soon so please look out for this.
Thanks to everyone in the local community who has previously used our playground for picking up students from the primary school; there is now dedicated parking at the Recreation Ground for this purpose, with a path to walk down to their playground. We have limited car parking in the remainder of our car park to accommodate other parents who wish to walk along the path at the end of the day, although there is public parking behind the Crown Public House. Please do not park on Church Lane and obstruct buses and other traffic or in residential areas such as Hazel Rise. The pedestrian path, for access to Claydon Primary School, from the Community Centre will be open until 9.15am and again after 2.45pm but there is no access during the school day.
