Headteacher's Update
Since we returned from half term we have had a busy time, mostly focused upon the examination season; Year 11s finished their final exams and left school for the final time whilst other year groups have had a taste of sitting in the exam hall and watching the clock counting down.
We said our formal farewell to Year 11 at their Prom; a great evening where they all looked wonderful! Lots of dancing and singing filled the evening and photos from this event will provide fond memories for them for years to come. It was also lovely to see parents and families at the start of the evening as they joined us for the big arrivals; for some it is their last event with the school and we will miss them too.
Amongst all of this it seems incredible that so much else has been underway but the staff at Claydon provide a huge range of opportunities for our students to engage with. Over 40 students undertook their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Expedition one wet weekend and 60 students visited the World War One Battlefields and Cemeteries. We have had teams take part in athletics and cricket and sports leaders leading sports days for some of our local primary schools. Many more visits and enrichment activities are taking place before the end of term including: Sports Day, Year 6 Induction Day, Schools Will Rock You, Work Experience, DT Skills Day, Spelling Bee and a Speaking Competition; watch for photos and information about each in the final newsletter of the term.
