Claydon's Most Able and Talented Students
GCSE Statistics
The most able students in Year 9 have the chance to join an after school club where they will follow the GCSE Statistics course. They will then take the GCSE Statistics examination at the end of Year 9. The exam board we use is Edexcel, please click here for more information.
The Statistics GCSE consists of two exam papers:
Paper 1 – Higher Calculator Paper lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes (80 marks)
Paper 2 – Higher Calculator Paper lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes (80 marks)
The grades awarded for this examination will be grades 9 to 1.
GCSE Further Mathematics
The most able students in Year 10 have the chance to join an after-school club where they will follow the GCSE Further Mathematics course. They will then take the GCSE Further Mathematics examination at the end of Year 10. The exam board we use is AQA; please click here for more information.
The Further Mathematics GCSE consists of two exam papers:
Paper 1 – Non Calculator Paper lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes
Paper 2 – Calculator Paper lasting 2 hours
The grades awarded will be 9 to 1.

AMSP (Advances Mathematics Support Programme)
AMSP is a national organisation which aims to increase participation in AS/A Level Mathematics , Further Mathematics and Core Mathematics.
UKMT (United Kingdom Mathematics Trust
The UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) is a registered charity whose aim is to advance the education of children and young people in Mathematics. The UKMT organises national mathematics competitions and other mathematical enrichment activities for 11-18 year old UK school students. In 2017 they worked with over 600,000 students from 4,000 schools, taking part in the three individual challenges which form the UK's biggest national maths competition.
Maths Feast
Each year we enter two teams of 4 students in the regional 'Maths Feast' competition. This is a competition for schools in the East Suffolk area. In 2019 we were winners and joint runners up which was a fantastic achievement.
